During the session, Julio César Estupiñán Rodríguez, governor of the province, explained the need of making the people know the destination of their donations as an incentive to take part more actively with this noble cause, whose participation has contributed with around 900 thousand pesos so far.
"It is important that the people know where the money they donated is going to, so that they know where it was invested and see its usefulness," Estupiñán Rodríguez said.
On this occasion, the project proposed by the municipalities of Frank País, Cacocum and, Gibara were presented.
The Municipal Assembly of the People's Power in Frank País presented the project "Use of local capacities for the production of meat, milk and eggs" at the cooperative "28 de enero". It was explained that the goal is to strengthen the systems of breeding and the mechanisms of commercialization of their productions in the local market, from the establishment of an adequate production chain.
The project was objected, among other aspects, the total amount which exceeds the quantity collected by the municipality. The value of this amount is 42 thousand 979.30 Cuban pesos, for 71.6 % of the total amount of the project. Therefore, they must look for other ways of financing for its complete execution.
In the case of Cacocum, they presented a project of a small industry to produce vinegar, for which they already have all the technological equipment needed to produce 400 liters of vinegar daily.
The request is based on the need of purchasing building materials and containers for the production and commercialization. For its execution, it was requested the total income in the municipality's account, with an amount of 81,400 pesos in national currency, so in the next session of the Council they will present another source of financing.
For its part, the Municipal Assembly of the People's Power in Gibara brought two projects. Firstly, one called "Marketing of fresh fish to the tourist sector", which was designed on the basis of the regulation of self-employment and the decisions taken by the country to register fishermen in this new form of management and to respond to their requests.
The amount requested to make it come true reaches 11 thousand 300 Cuban pesos and two thousand 200 Cuban hard currency, which will be used for the construction of a collection place to store fresh fish brought by the fishermen of the municipality for its later distribution and commercialization in the tourist centers of the territory.
The amount in national currency was approved because they have the amount in their account, but not the convertible one, which they must acquire through other means.
Gibara's second project is named "Strengthening of the rabbit breeding in communities and the cooperative ''17 de mayo" to later commercialize rabbit meat. For this project, implemented in six municipalities by the Cuban Association of Agricultural Animal Production, they requested 20 thousand pesos in national currency and 30 thousand 500 cuc.
As in the previous case, they should look for another source of financing for the hard currency because they do not have it in the account of the donation, and for the amount in national currency they were assigned 13,800 pesos.
The approval of those projects, which received an amount close to 300 thousand pesos in national currency from the more than 900 thousand collected, will help increase food production in accordance local needs.
