After more than 30 days with no cases of this disease, a patient was confirmed positive to the PCR test, who has been admitted to the Lenin Hospital since September 4th, when he showed respiratory symptoms despite not having visited other provinces or having contacted foreigners, as mentioned in an interview with him.

Initially, he assimilated positively the treatment with antibiotics due to the bronchial pneumonia he has developed; however, he did not evolve as quickly as expected, so it was decided to transfer him to the specialized ward of respiratory cases at the Clinical Hospital. When deepening, he said to have gone to three shows of the non state sector and in a humor performance on August 25th, offered by an artist coming from Havana, who was staying in a house for rent.

Today, the patient is reported to be in a serious condition in the intermediate therapy room of the Hospital where he is admitted. After the event, the health authorities proposed to the local Goverment to keep under survelliance seven blocks in town, populated by more than 900 people.

From the moment his positivity was known, his family members, the medical teams that assitisted him, the workers of the places hevisited, the residents of the house for rent where the Havana artist was staying, and those whom hemet at the humor presentation or were by his side days before his admission, were also assisted. Similarly, Havana was informed about the comedian who is believed to be the source of the infection, who had returned to his house in the country's capital city.

The described case proves the repeated alert made by the authorities of the province which in turn approved new measures proposed by the provincial health directorate, aimed at preventing the spread of the virus.

In this sense, Ernesto Santiesteban Velázquez, President of the Provincial Defense Council, and Yunia Pérez Hernández, Deputy Governor, checked by video conference the measures being taken in the 14 Holguin municipalities to prevent the spread of Covid-19 at the starting point of the high number (more than 2600) of national travelers from provinces with unfavorable conditions, now staying all across the province.

Dr. Katia Ochoa, Director of Health, reported about the 11 events that are monitored for having suspicious cases in the province, she added that measures are reinforced at the on duty wards in order to avoid mixing between respiratory patients with others coming for different reasons, and also the adaptation to the protocol in the performance of three PCR to the contacts of suspicious cases: after being isolated immediately the first one is practiced, which even if he/she is negative, if the person of origin was positive, his contacts would be hospitalized for five days to perform again the clinical tests.

If they continue to be negative, this second test is carried out for another 5-day cycle under epidemiological surveillance in their homes, and at the end of 10 days the third PCR is carried out.

Santiesteban Velázquez oriented the direction of Health to raise the strictness of the inspectors of the State Sanitary Inspection bodies in the control of the measures taken, to the presidents and vice-presidents of the municipal defense councils the search and preparation of new isolation centers and the fulfillment of the sanitary measures in the drive of workers to food production.
