Since then, associated to political and revolutionary values, this radio station was a voice to denounce the crimes of the dictatorships of the time.
The motto "we say with courage what others keep quiet out of fear", was a clear example of the courage of Manuel Angulo Farrán, who was captured, tortured and killed along with five other comrades in struggle on December 9, 1957, because of his revolutionary activities.
A year after the triumphs of the Cuban Revolution, led by Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, on January sixth, 1959, this radio station was baptized after this martyr.
CMKO Radio Angulo now 84 years old is the main station of the Holguin Radio Broadcasting System, which is made up of eight municipal stations and six radio studios. Its workers, worthy heirs of the legacy motto, defend from their trenches the project of the country headed by the highest management of the nation, while constituting a journalistic bastion in this Eastern province.
The on line connexion to the world through Internet carries the same truth as Manuel, without complexes or fears of pressure from those who never admitted that 90 miles away a Revolution would live long.
Thank you Radio angulo crew, on behalf of the Provincial Government of Holguin, for your work.
