Dr. Yanelis Calviño Vega, head of the Provincial Health Department, informed that none of the 63 samples sent to the laboratory in Santiago de Cuba tested positive to the novel coronavirus, a batch that also included forces of the Minitry of Interior mobilized during the quarantine period in the municipality of Gibara. Today, eight infected patients are still hospitalized, eight are under investigation, while 50 are in isolation centers because of being contacts of previous cases.
The doctor also informed that yesterday 389 881 people were studied in the province, resulting 126 patients with respiratory infections; however, none of them diagnosed as suspicious to the COVID-19. Additionally, she explained that 88 self-diagnoses were processed in the virtual self-survey platform, of which four declared symptoms, although they were not classified as suspects.
Regarding the state of Prevenghovir in the province, Calviño said that the stocks of this medicine is being distributed to all health areas of the territory, with priority given to at-risk populations.
Dr. Yanelis also explained that the Provincial Defense Council oriented to isolate for a period of 14 days, all persons entering the province, especially from the most complex territories such as Havana, Matanzas or Villa Clara.
